CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's soccer team began practice this week in preparation for its 2012 campaign.

GoBlueHose.com sat down with head coach Bret Boulware to discuss this week's training sessions and the upcoming season.

PC returns nearly all of its scoring from the 2011 season and much of its defensive corps. Top scorers Byron Quinatoa (Santo Domingos de los Colorados, Ecuador), Ignacio Monchetti (Montevideo, Uruguay) and Johnny Mercado (Lilburn, Ga.) will lead the Blue Hose offensive while a young defense that includes Newt Turk (Cornelia, Ga.) and Pachinno Roberts (Powder Springs, Ga.) will look to keep opponents off of the scoreboard.

Tanner Osborne (Lexington, S.C.) returns in goal and see competition from two newcomers. Tyler Beadle (Douglasville, Ga.) joins the Blue Hose from the University of Kentucky, where he earned All-Conference USA and Freshman All-Conference USA accolades in 2010 before picking up eight wins last season. Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) arrives as a freshman netminder as well.

Five other freshman also join the Blue Hose and will be expected to make an impact in their first season on campus.

The team's season begins at home on Friday, August 24 against Furman at 7 p.m. The Blue Hose first travel to Wofford for a scrimmage on Wednesday, August 15 at 6 p.m.
