Presbyterian College, winners of its last two of three games, hosts Winthrop in softball action Friday, April 6 with a doubleheader, and Saturday, April 7 with a single game. First pitch both days is at 1 p.m. with the games being streamed live over the internet at www.BigSouthSports.com.
While Winthrop holds a 7-4 record over Presbyterian College in the overall series, the Blue Hose have had the Eagles' number as of late, winning the last three in a row, including a 5-2 win in the last meeting in Rock Hill, S.C. PC had only won once in eight meeting prior to the last three games.
PC is 10-20 overall and 2-5 in the Big South after taking two of three at Charleston Southern last weekend. Leading the Blue Hose is Shelby Petik with a .301 batting average. She has 11 RBI, two home runs and six doubles. Morgan Durham has 13 RBI with three home runs, while Leslie Hensley has recorded 11 RBI and three home runs as well.
Hensley leads the pitching staff with a 2.69 ERA in 106.2 innings. She has surrendered 41 earned runs, 56 strikeouts and just 13 walks. The Blue Hose are hitting .235 as a team with 83 RBI and carry a .321 on base and .323 slugging percentage after 30 games.
The Winthrop Eagles are 13-24 overall and 2-7 in the Big South after dropping two straight at Campbell on Wednesday. Chelsey Schoenfeldt leads the Eagles with a .379 batting average and 24 RBI. Her five home runs lead the team as well as her six doubles. She carries a .583 slugging percentage and a .463 on base percentage.
Melanie Andrea is second in RBI with 15, while Alex White has 10 on the year. Natalie Becker is the team leader on the mound with a 34.1 ERA in 123.1 innings of work. She has 131 strikeouts and carries a 7-10 record heading into the weekend. Sutton Watson holds the team-high ERA with a 3.21 in 28.1 innings.
