Presbyterian College defensive back Justin Bethel (Blythewood, S.C.) has been College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National DB and Defensive Performer of the Week, while Teammate Patrick Morgano (Greenville, S.C.) has been named CFPA National Punter of the Week for their efforts on the field Sept. 17 against California.

Bethel increased his Big South record with his seventh career blocked kick when he deflected a punt and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter against California.  It was the second-straight game that the Blue Hose blocked a punt or field goal and returned it for a score.

Bethel also added a 29-yard interception return for a touchdown to become the second defensive player in Big South history with two touchdowns in one game.

Bethel accounted for all of Presbyterian's scoring against the Golden Bears and extended PC's record of consecutive games not being shut out to 55.

Morgano recorded nine punts in PC's loss to California and averaged a PC Division I record 51.7 yards per punt.  His 465 was also a record and his long of 63 yards was second.  He hit two that landed inside the 20-yard line while two others were touchbacks against the Bears.
