CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head women’s basketball coach Ronny Fisher announced the addition of Amanda Mills on Monday.

Mills joins the Blue Hose women’s basketball program out of San Diego Mesa Junior College in San Diego, Calif. She played for Michael Hootner at San Diego Mesa.

The guard is a 2006 graduate of Oregon City High School in Oregon City, Oregon. Oregon City won the state championship during her freshman season and advanced into the later rounds of the Oregon state playoffs during her sophomore and junior seasons.

Mills is the fifth player to join the Blue Hose women’s basketball program since the early signing period began in November of 2007. Mills joins Brittany Brown (Charlotte Latin High School; Charlotte, N.C.), Lauren Snyder (Westminster School; Augusta, Ga.), Megan Lee (Chillicothe High School; Chillicothe, Ohio) and Kristen Stevens (Pickerington Central High School; Columbus, Ohio).

“We are thrilled that Amanda is joining us at PC after playing for two great coaches in Brad Smith at Oregon City High School and Michael Hootner at San Diego Mesa,” remarked Fisher. “Amanda can really stretch the defense with her ability to shoot the three and she brings much-needed experience from her one season at San Diego Mesa. Amanda has a tremendous work ethic as exemplified by her classroom performance. She is the type of player and person we will build our program with at PC.”

Mills averaged 18.1 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game during her one season with San Diego Mesa in 2007-08. She was chosen First Team All-PCC and she helped the Lady Olympians tie the school record for most conference wins in school history (10).

Mills shot 44 percent from beyond the arc and 85 percent from the charity stripe for the Lady Olympians in the 2007-08 season.

In the classroom, Mills was the valedictorian of her graduating class at both Oregon City and San Diego Mesa.

The Blue Hose open their 2008-09 season at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14 against USC Upstate at the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.
