Filling up the net


The Blue Hose are averaging a program-best (D1 era) 2.18 goals, 1.36 assists, 5.73 points and 15.45 shots per game. They are only six goals away from tying the program’s DI record for most goals scored in a season (30, 2015).


Big South Honors


Sophomore Morgan Hutchison was named the “Attacking Player of the Week” on Sept. 10 after the Athens, Tenn., native scored three goals, including a both game-winners, against SC State and Wofford.


Senior Kelsey Yeager received “Attacking Player of the Week” honors in back-to-back weeks after scoring a personal-best five goals over the first four games of the season. The Blue Hose are 3-0 when Yeager scores a goal this season.


Freshman Megan Serrano was named “Freshman of the Week” on August 27 after back-to-back six-save efforts and picking up her first collegiate win over The Citadel on August 26.




The Blue Hose won five consecutive games, from August 26 – September 9, for the first time since going 6-0 to start the 2003 season. Over their five-game win streak, PC outscored their opponents 16-5 and had 10 different players record a point.


Scoring In Bunches


The Blue Hose scored five unanswered goals against Hampton (10/6), four against SC State (9/4), three against The Citadel (8/26), Alabama State (8/31) and Wofford (9/9), and recorded a pair of late, unanswered goals against Mercer (9/2).


Scoring Breakdown


Nine different Blue Hose have scored a goal in 2018, while four more have recorded assists. Senior Kelsey Yeager (5G, 1A) and sophomore Preston Robinette (3G, 5A) share the team lead with 11 points while Mallory Hopkins has 10 points (4G, 2A). Morgan Hutchison (4G) and Kori Lawrence (3G, 2A) are close behind with eight points each. Megan Archer (2G), Peyton Patterson (1G, 1A), Kristen Bane (1A), Sam Britt (1G), Taylor Coleman (1A), Caroline Dipzinski (1G) and Isabelle Russell (1A) have also recorded points.


Series Histories | Last Meeting


Gardner-Webb picked up a 2-0 win last season on a pair of second half goals. The Runnin Bulldogs hold a 16-7-1 series lead with PC’s last win coming in 2013 by a score of 1-0.


Campbell picked up a 4-1 win last season behind four goals from Alexa Genas. Kelsey Yeager scored in the 66th minute. The Camels own a 6-2-1 series lead with PC’s last win being a 2-1 victory in 2013.


Scouting the Bulldogs


Gardner-Webb defeated Charleston Southern 2-1 on Saturday, October 6. Jana Braun scored in the 88thminute to seal the home victory. Jada Newton leads the team with 14 points (7G) while Stina Kleppe has 13 points (4G, 5A).


Keely Brown (6-3-3) leads the Runnin Bulldogs in net, logging nearly 1200 minutes so far this season, 56 saves and a goals against average of 1.29.


Scouting the Camels


Campbell is 3-1-1 in their last five after starting the year 1-6. After picking up a 4-1 win in their season opener over SC State, the Camels went on a scoring drought of seven games. Since entering conference play, Campbell has scored six goals while allowing six goals to opponents.


Campbell will put a two-game win streak on the line when they host Longwood on Wednesday.


Alexa Genas leads the Camels with seven points (3G, 1A). Three players have spent time in net, but Erin Scott (3-7-1) leads the team with 984:58 min played, 60 saves and a goals against average of 1.46.
