Radford, Va. – A 3-3 effort with a double and home run in game two by Megan Anderson led the Blue Hose to a 4-2 win in game two of the double header. Radford scored two runs in the first inning of game one to win the first game 2-1.

Game Story – Game One (Radford 2 – PC 1)

Petree had a one out hit for the Blue Hose in the top of the first but that was all for the Blue Hose in the inning. Radford opened the game with three straight doubles to score two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Blue Hose responded with a run in the top of the third with a two-out single from Lyons who stole second and scored on Wilbanks’ single. Petree then added her second hit and stole second but Wilbanks was held at third on the base hit.

Both pitchers threw shutout innings the rest of the way. Anderson had a pinch hit double in the top of the seventh but that was all that the Blue Hose were able to get. Alex Cook finished the game with five shutout innings allowing only three more hits after the first inning, adding two strikeouts and no walks.

Game Story – Game Two (PC 4 –Radford 2)

PC got the second game started with three hits and a run in the first as Petree singled and came around to score on Anderson’s single to center. Then in the third inning Petree reached on an error came around to score her second run of the game on Macy Hyatt’s two-run bomb.

Radford got its first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out double followed by a two-run home run of its own.

In the top of the sixth Anderson added a solo home run to give the Blue Hose a two run lead at 4-2 and Kaylee Allen was able to pitch a dominant complete game. She allowed just two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

For the Record

The Blue Hose finish the season 4-42 while Radford goes to 31-16 after the teams split the double-header.

Player of the Game

Jonnie Petree went 2-3 while Chelsea Lyons added a hit with a run and Ansley Wilbanks had a hit and RBI. In game two Anderson went 3-3 with a double and home run, add in her pinch-hit double in game one she went 4-4 with two doubles and a home run. Petree added a 2-4 with two runs scored effort in game two and both starting pitchers had complete game efforts. Each allowed only two runs. This was Anderson’s third three-hit game of the season.

Stat of the Game

Radford outhit the Blue Hose 6-5 in game one and PC had a 7-5 hits advantage in game two of the double-header.
