Cody Church is in his first year as an assistant coach.

Church arrives at PC after a stellar career at Lincoln Memorial University, representing the team as captain and making the transition from outfielder to pitcher over his four years.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity that Coach Pollock has given me,” Church said. “In addition to joining the Clinton community, I’m looking forward to being a part of a great baseball program that’s headed in the right direction.”

Church brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Blue Hose as well. The Seymour, Tennessee native served on the coaching staffs at summer camps at Radford, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, as well as working for former PC and current Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin at the Commodores’ camp.

“Coach Church is an extremely valuable addition to the Blue Hose baseball coaching staff,” Pollock said. “He came highly recommended by Vanderbilt University head coach Tim Corbin and Lincoln Memorial University head coach Jeff Sziksai. His energy is contagious and should add to the chemistry of our current staff.”

After leading the state in hitting his senior year at Seymour High School with a .546 batting average, Church made a successful transition to pitcher his junior and senior years at LMU. Church quickly worked his way to the weekend rotation for both years and led the Railsplitters in wins as a senior (six) and ranked second on the team in ERA (4.72).

Church graduated cum laude from LMU in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
