CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and head women’s lacrosse coach Jenna Handshoe announced the hiring of Kaitlin Winnie as assistant coach on Monday.
A 2016 graduate of Tusculum University, Winnie comes to PC after spending the 2017-18 season as a graduate assistant/volunteer assistant with the Pioneers under the guidance of Handshoe.
“I'm excited to have Coach Winnie joining me at PC,” said Handshoe. “Her hard work and dedication to helping develop student-athletes is unparalleled. She will be tasked with the defensive unit, helping develop our defenders both individually and as a unit. After playing for me, she understands the expectations and culture we are hoping to grow within the program.”
A native of Accord, N.Y., Winnie transferred to Tusculum in January of 2015 after playing her freshman season with Herkimer Community College. Her sophomore year she made five starts in goal for the Pioneers going 4-1 with 27 saves, a .386 save percentage, and a goals against average of 9.37. In total, Winnie played in 48 games with 36 starts over three seasons. She collected 50 ground balls, won nine draw controls and forced 22 turnovers. She made 13 starts in goals over her career and was a team captain her senior year.
Winnie graduated from Tusculum in December of 2016 with an undergraduate degree in sport science and a minor in athletic coaching. She then earned a masters of education with a concentration in human resource development at Tusculum in December of 2017.
