Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team will travel to Farmville, Va. to take on Longwood in a Big South match on Saturday morning. The contest against the Lancers is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.


The Blue Hose moved to 16-5 for the 2018-19 season, 6-1 against conference opponents on Wednesday with a win 5-2 win over UNC Asheville. The match began with PC grabbing the doubles point. The senior duo of Sydney Patton and Tracy Johnson was dominant, picking up a 6-2 win on Bobby McKee Court. After PC dropped the match on court two, the first point of the day would come down to court three. Beth Taylor and Katie Thompson earned the victory and point for the Blue Hose, needing to win an extra game to take the set, 7-5.


Johnson once again made quick work of her opponent in singles play on court two. She took home her second win of the day in straight sets. Thompson and Taylor followed suit with their second wins, both in just two sets, of the afternoon, clinching the match for the Blue Hose. Jessica Leeman followed that with a three-set victory on court five. Both Patton and Samantha Calais dropped heartbreakers in three sets.


Longwood is 11-6 on the year, 1-4 in Big South play. Their lone conference victory came against UNC Asheville on March 23. The Lancers swept Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday their last time out. In their last conference match, Longwood was defeated by Charleston Southern, 7-0.
