Presbyterian College forward Cory Hightower (Norcross, Ga.) has been named the Big South Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week, while Radford redshirt-sophomore guard Carlik Jones(Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Big South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 29-Jan. 6, it was announced today.

Hightower averaged 10.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals in helping PC to three victories. He scored 12 points and grabbed eight boards in a five-point win at Jacksonville, then added six points and nine rebounds in a two-point win at South Carolina State.  Hightower finished the string with 13 points, eight caroms and 7-of-8 free throws in the Blue Hose’s three-point Big South-opening victory over USC Upstate.

Jones averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in three games for the Highlanders.  He made 50 percent of his field goals in every game (19-37 total), and opened up his week with 20 points, eight assists and five boards at Maryland on Dec. 29.  Jones wrapped the three-game swing with a team-high 24 points -- including 12 in the final 3:56 -- along with seven rebounds and six helpers in Radford’s comeback victory over Longwood this past Saturday to open league play.  He went 8-of-8 from the line in the last 56 seconds against the Lancers to help the Highlanders erase a 10-point deficit with 7:23 remaining.
