Durham, NC – A pair of late home runs by Andrew Bladt and AJ Priaulx were not enough as the Presbyterian College baseball team fell to NC Central, 7-2, at the Durham Athletic Park on Tuesday night. PC drops to 9-21 overall, and NC Central improves to 20-11.
How It Happened
NC Central struck early, putting up five runs in the first three innings. In the first, a trio of singles by Jordan Varela, Corey Joyce, and Zach Michalski put the Eagles up 1-0. Andrew Valichka then recorded a sac fly to make it 2-0. In the second inning, Joyce struck again with a two RBI double to make it 4-0. Then, in the third, Valichka hit a solo home run to start the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Joyce struck yet again with another two-RBI double to put the Eagles up 7-0.
Pitchers of Record
Ryan Hall (0-2) took the loss for PC. He gave up four runs on five hits and had two strikeouts against two walks over 2.0 innings.
Justice Sampson (2-1) picked up the win throwing 2.2 innings and only giving up one hit.
AJ Priaulx hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to record his 50th hit of the season and 99th RBI of his career.
The Blue Hose tied a season-best mark by hitting home runs in four consecutive games. Over that stretch, they have recorded nine home runs and have 23 on the season.
The Blue Hose will host NC A&T on Wednesday at the PC Baseball Complex. The game will start at 3 p.m.
