The Presbyterian College softball team dropped both games of a midweek doubleheader with Furman Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-3, and 5-1, at the PC Softball Complex.  Chelsea Lyons led the Blue Hose on offense, going four-of-seven with two RBI and one run.

Furman 4, PC 3

PC got on the board first with a two-run single in the third inning by Chelsea Lyons that brought home Presley Bissett and Jonnie Petree, both of whom were on base off singles.  Three out of the first four batters in the top of the fifth collected base hits, with Emma Ogburn getting a RBI double, Caroline Cash a RBI triple, and a RBI single from Emily DeMonte.  Marissa Guimbarda added the fourth run with a RBI single two batters later.  The Blue Hose rallied in the sixth with a RBI single from Lindsay Harris to make it 4-3, but a pop up and line out ended the game with runners on base.

Lindsey Bert took the win (3-2), pitching a complete game and surrendering three runs off seven hits, while striking out seven.  Kaylee Allen started for PC, pitching 4.0 innings, giving up three runs off six hits, with two strikeouts.  Alex Cook came in relief for 3.0 innings, surrendering three this and one run.

PC finished with three runs off seven hits and three errors, while Furman posted four runs, nine hits, and one error.  Lyons went two-for-three with two RBI, with Petree collecting two hits as well.  Carolian Cash led Furman with a two-for-three effort and one RBI.

Furman 5, PC 1

The Paladins opened the second game with two runs in the first, coming off RBI singles from Bert and Ogburn.  A RBI single from Hannah Reynolds and a two-run double by Bert put the visitors up 5-0.  The Blue Hose got a run back in the fourth off a RBI putout from Ansley Wilbanks in the fourth, but that would be it as the home team collected just two hits the final three innings to fall 5-1.

DeMonte (5-0) went the distance for Furman, giving up on run off six hits, with three strikeouts.  Cook took the loss for PC (0-1), lasting 1.0 inning and surrendering two runs off three hits.  Camryn Alverson and Sara Ramsbottom both saw action in relief, with Ramsbottom posting two strikeouts.

Furman recorded five runs off 10 hits, with two errors.  PC posted one run off six hits, with one error.  Lyons led PC with a two-four-four effort at the plate, while Bert was tops for Furman, going three-for-four with three RBI.
