SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team fell to upstate foe Wofford, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon in Spartanburg, S.C. The Blue Hose fall to 3-3 on the season, while the Terriers remain unbeaten at 6-0.
Wofford opened the match by taking courts one and two in doubles action to take the 1-0 lead. PC’s Beth Taylor and Ella Rowley turned in the first result of the day with a 6-1 victory at No. 3. The Terriers evened it up with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, before holding off PC at No. 1, 7-6, to claim the doubles point.
PC and Wofford would each take half of the singles matches with four going to three sets. Caroline Ferrari won her second straight match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Taylor remained undefeated with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4, putting PC in front 2-1.
The next three to finish would each go in favor of the Terriers, all coming in three sets, on courts one, two and six. Samantha Calais gave PC its third point with a 6-7, 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 3.
PC is scheduled to face Chattanooga at home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
