CLINTON, S.C. – Despite a career-high 37 points from Reggie Dillard, the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team was unable to slow down a hot shooting Liberty on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Flames, 81-66, at the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.

Stat of the Game

PC connected on 13 threes on the afternoon, its most against a Big South opponent this season, led by Dillard with a career-high eight makes from beyond the arc. The 13 three-pointers are the tied for the second-most by PC this season and are its most against a conference foe since 2014 when it totaled 14 against Coastal Carolina.

Reggie Dillard turned in one of the best performances of his career, totaling a career-high 37 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the floor, including a career-high eight threes, and a perfect 5-for-5 effort from the free throw line. The senior’s 37 points are tied for the most in a single game by a PC player in the program’s Division I era, while his eight threes are the second most in a game in the D1 era. Dillard accounted for 11 of the team’s 20 points in the opening half, before putting up 26 of its 46 in the second. The 37 points are the third-most by a Big South player this season and the most by a player not named Chris Clemons (Campbell). Ryan Kemrite paced the Flames with 21 points and Keegan McDowell added 19.

How It Happened

Liberty controlled much of the action early, pulling out to a 15-2 lead thanks to an 11-0 road. After a three by Dillard ended the run, LU scored the next eight points to take a 23-5 lead, its largest of the half. The Blue Hose would score on each of their next four possessions to make it a 28-14 game with just under five minutes left in the first half. After back-to-back baskets by the Flames made 32-14, the teams traded threes before Dillard managed a three-point play to send the game to halftime at 35-20.

PC looked poised to make run in the second half, scoring on three of its first four possessions to trim the lead to 11 at 38-27. Liberty answered, though, with a 10-1 run to push its advantage to 48-28 with 15:14 to play. The Blue Hose pulled within 14 after an 8-2 run made it 59-45 with 8:28 to go but couldn’t get any closer, despite Dillard’s best efforts. He scored PC’s final 15 points of the game, all coming via the three, to make an 81-66 final.


- Romeo Crouch reached double figures for the third time this season, totaling a career-high 15 points on a career-high six field goals, including three three-pointers. The freshman added six rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes of action.

- PC totaled 46 points in the second half of the game, its second-best scoring half against a Big South opponent this season. The Blue Hose reached 50 points in the second half in a win over Longwood on January 3.

For the Record

PC falls to 9-14 overall and 2-8 in league play, while Liberty improves to 13-10 overall and 4-6 in the Big South.
