GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s tennis team fell to East Carolina, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the ECU Indoor Tennis Facility in Greenville, N.C. The Blue Hose fall to 0-2 on the year, while the Pirates went 1-0 in their season opener.

Presbyterian took the early 1-0 lead with doubles point, recording victories on courts two and three. ECU took court one, 6-2, but PC answered as Alejandro Bejar and Luis Conde won on court three, 6-3, to improve to 2-0 on the season. Jaime Castillo-Lopez and Daniel Stenger clinched the point with a 7-6 (5) win at No. 2 to record their first victory of the season as a pair.

In singles, each of the top three flights would go to three sets with PC coming out on top in two. Alejandro Bejar recorded his first win of the season with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 win at No. 2. After ECU claimed at three-set win at No. 1, Brandon Mills followed with a 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-4 win at No. 3, to give PC a 3-1 advantage at the time. ECU turned the tide, though, in the final three singles matches of the day, taking each one in straight sets to take the match, 4-3.

Through two matches this season, PC has had eight of its 12 singles matches go to three sets.

PC is slated to return to action next weekend with road matches against Davidson and UNCG.
