Storey Named Preseason All-Conference

Senior PG Cortney Storey has been named to 2017-18 Big South Preseason All-Conference team. She was the 2014-15 Freshman of the Year, 2015-16 Big South Honorable Mention and 2016-17 Big South Second Team honoree.


Storey is the first preseason honoree since Karlee Taylor in 2013-14.


Storey and Miles Nearing 1,000

Seniors Storey and Janie Miles both enter their senior campaigns with a reasonable shot of surpassing 1,000 career points. Storey sits at 997 and Miles now has 860.


Storey has averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game this season. With these averages she sits at 997 points, 388 assists and 170 steals on her way to 1,000, 400, and 200 respectively for her career.


Miles sits at 860 career points heading into the North Carolina Central game.



Blue Hose Go for 10+ Again

PC enters this season with three straight 10+ win Big South campaigns. The Blue Hose have achieved that feat four of the last five seasons overall.


Overall they have won 10+ conference games in 13 of the last 30 seasons with nine coming as members of the South Atlantic Conference and four in the Big South.


Storey off to Hot Start

Storey was named the Big South Player of the Week each of the first two weeks this season.


In week one she averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in two games versus San Diego State and #7 UCLA, this performance earned her first player of the week honor.


In week two Storey average 20.5 points, 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga. She would tie her own personal career high and PC Division I record with 27 points versus Upstate. These performances garnered her second player of the week honor.


Storey recorded her third 20-point effort of the season against North Carolina, she also tallied six assists for her sixth straight game recording four or more assists. On the season she averages 15.3 points, 5.3 assists and 1.1 steals this season.


Blue Hose Offensive Notes

PC is averaging 53.0 points with a 35.1 percent shooting average this season with a 28.3 percent three-point average.


The Blue Hose grab 25.5 rebounds, 11.8 assists, 8.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game this season.


When PC scored 83 points at USC Upstate it was the most points scored in a game since the Truett-McConnel game on December 16, 2012.


Miles Heating Up

Miles averages 9.1 points per game this season, 68 of her 73 points in eight games have come in her five double figure scoring games versus USC Upstate, Chattanooga, Duke, Belmont and North Carolina. All five of these games have been in the last six overall.


33 points in two games versus USC Upstate and Chattanooga are her second highest scoring two game stretch in her career. She had 35 over two games in December of her freshman season versus North Carolina Central and Campbell.


Career Days

Freshman Mattie Kennedy tallied a career high 13 points on a career high three made three-pointers versus Kennesaw State on Tuesday night.


Sophomore Riley Hemm also tied her career high in made three-pointers with two in one minute played versus the Owls.


Redshirt Sophomore Ericka Blackwell-Boyden grabbed a career high six rebounds in the Kennesaw State (11/21) contest. She then added a career high three steals versus North Carolina (12/5).


Freshman Briley Buckner would add a career day against Duke as she set game highs in points (11), made shots (4), attempts (8), three-point makes (2), three point attempts (4), rebounds (5) and assists (2).


Scouting the Eagles

The Eagles enter this game with a 2-7 record overall. They have lost four in a row and most recently are coming off a 73-61 loss to East Carolina on Thursday, December 14.


North Carolina Central averages 61.1 points per game on 34.4 percent shooting and 26.1 percent from three.


NCCU averages 37.6 rebounds per game and is -5.8 in rebounding average. The Eagles average 10.7 assists per game while turning the ball over 21.9 times a game. They also record 8.9 steals

and tally 3.1 blocks per game.


Rodneysha Martin leads the Eagles with a 13.4 points and 2.7 assists per game average. Jayla Calhoun also scores in double figures at 10.2 points.


Calhoun at 4.4, Paulina Afriyie at 4.3 and Caira Benton at 4.2 all average 4.0+ rebounds per game to lead the way for the Eagles.

PC hosts North Carolina Central, this is the ninth consecutive season that the two teams have played. PC leads the series 5-3 overall and have won three in a row. The Blue Hose defeated the Eagles 72-63 last season.
