Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose (5-17, 2-7) volleyball team fell by a 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 13-25, 24-26) score on Tuesday night versus the UNC Asheville Bulldogs (9-11, 5-4) at Templeton Center. Allie Wright led the way for the Blue Hose with 17 kills and a .325 hitting percentage, the 17 kills and three service aces tied her career highs.

How it happened:

            Set One: UNC Asheville 25 – Presbyterian 22

Wright got the Blue Hose started on the right note as she had her first kill to get PC on the board and off to a 1-0 lead. Neither team would lead by more than two until near the end when the Bulldogs went on a 3-0 run to go up 19-16. They would use a 7-3 run to take a 23-19 lead, the Blue Hose would answer with 3-0 run of their own to pull it to 23-22 following a kill by Erin Eulitz.

            Set Two: UNC Asheville 22 - Presbyterian 25

With the Blue Hose trailing 15-11 in the second set Wright came up big as she served three straight points including two aces to tie the set at 15-15. Presbyterian would then finish off the set with a 14-7 run on Wright’s eighth kill of the match. Through two sets both teams would have an identical 47 total points, 30 digs and three blocks.

            Set Three: UNC Asheville 25 - Presbyterian 13

The Blue Hose took a 6-5 lead early on following an ace by Sierra Jones, following that UNC Asheville went on an 8-2 run to lead 13-8 at the first timeout. The Bulldogs would finish on a 12-5 run to win 25-13.

            Set Four: UNC Asheville 26 - Presbyterian 24

The Blue Hose battled in the fourth set, taking a 7-6 lead early on to cause a Bulldog timeout. They would go up 19-16, their biggest lead following a Eulitz kill. UNC Asheville would slowly work their way back into the lead winning 26-24.

Stars of the Game:

Wright finished the match with 17 kills and a .325 hitting percentage to lead the Blue Hose offensive attack. Eulitz would also finish with a double/double of 12 kills and 13 digs. Jaclyn Brewington with 22 assists, Daley Gosnell with 15 digs, Caroline Henderson with 12 digs and Jones with 14 assists would also finish in double figures.


- PC had 10 aces in four sets, that is a team record for the Division I era.

- The Blue Hose hit .224 as a team, recording 49 kills on 147 total attacks.

- PC had three individuals with 30+ total attacks in the match.

- Seven different players finished with double figures in either kills, digs or assists.

- 17 kills by Wright tied her career high.

- 40 total attacks by Wright was a career high.

- The three service aces tied her career high.

- Eulitz finished with a double/double of 12 kills and 13 digs.
