The Blue Hose won the first set, but it was Radford with the next three as the Highlanders defeated the Presbyterian College volleyball team, 3-1, in Big South action Saturday evening in Clinton, S.C. PC took set one, 26-24, with Radford taking three, 25-12, 25-23, and 25-19. Erin Eulitz led the PC offense with 13 kills.

Scoring the Match
Radford looked to be taking control in the first set after taking a 14-10 lead off a 6-1 run. PC rallied with its own run, 6-2, to knot the set at 16-16. A back and forth battle ensued with neither team able to get ahead by more than a couple of points. PC led 23-21, but back to back kills by Maddie Palmer tied it at 23-23. Tied again at 24-24, PC used kills from Caroline Henderson and Jaclyn Brewington to seal the 26-24 first set win.

Radford jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second set, but PC cut it to two with three straight. The Blue Hose kept it within two, 9-7, capped by a service ace from Sierra Jones, but seven unanswered by the Highlanders extended the visitor lead to 16-7. As part of an 11-3 run, Radford built a 20-10 lead, before an Allie Wright kill cut the margin to single digits. That would be it as Radford closed out the set taking five of the next seven points to take the 25-12 win.

A 5-0 run early in the third set turned a 7-2 Radford lead into a 7-7 tie. What followed were nine more ties, including at 14-14. Back to back kills by Erin Eulitz a 16-14 lead, but Radford rattled off six to take a 20-16 lead. Three straight from PC tied the set at 23-23, but Radford fought back with two unanswered to take the close 25-23 third set win.

Leading by just two, 16-14, Radford used a 5-1 run to jump out to a 21-15 lead. Trailing 23-17, PC rallied with three straight, which included a service ace from Jaclyn Brewington, to make it a four-point set, 23-19. Radford ended the rally with a Palmer kill and PC attack error to take the set, 25-19, and the match.

Player of the Match
Maddie Palmer recorded 25 kills to lead Radford in the win, with Erin Eulitz pacing PC with 13. Jaclyn Brewington added 21 assists, with Daley Gosnell posting 20 digs.

Stat of the Match
Radford led in kills, 71-46, and had four more errors, 18-14. PC finished with a .227 attack percentage, compared to .346 for the Highlanders. Radford recorded eight blocks to PC’s three and had one less service ace, 5-6/

For the Record
PC drops to 4-15 overall and 1-5 in the Big South, while Radford improves to 14-3, 4-2.
