The Presbyterian College volleyball team fought back from a 2-0 deficit to take set three, but fell in set four, to lose to Wofford in non-conference action Tuesday night in Spartanburg, S.C. Caroline Henderson paced the Blue Hose offense with 11 kills. Wofford took the first two sets, 25-19 and 26,24, with PC winning set three, 25-17. Wofford would go on to win set four, 25-17.

Scoring the Match
The first half of set one saw eight ties, the last time after Ashton Stewart’s kill knotted the set at 17-17. Wofford scored five straight in response, to take the 22-17 lead. The Blue Hose cut the lead to 23-19 off kills from Erin Eulitz and Caroline Henderson, but a PC service error and blocks assists from Kara Shacklette and Bijonae Jones closed out set one win, 25-19, for the Terriers.

PC stormed out of the gates in the second set, building a 9-3 lead before extending it to 14-7. Trailing 16-8, Wofford took the lead off an 11-1 run. PC tied it back at 19-19, but back to back points gave the Terriers a 21-19 lead. The Terriers extended the lead to 24-20, but the Blue Hose fought back to within one, 24-23. Sydney De Jong used a kill to tie the set at 24-24 but Wofford responded with two straight to rally to the 26-24 second set win.

The Blue Hose led from start to finish in set three, building a 15-8 lead before Wofford cut the margin to four, 15-11. Leading 16-12, PC rattled off four unanswered to increase the lead to 20-12. The Terriers made it a five-point set, 22-17, but an Allie Wright kill and Wofford attack error helped seal the 25-17 PC win.

A close set early, PC trailed by just one at 14-13, until Wofford scored the next seven of the set’s nine points to take a 21-15 lead. The Blue Hose were unable to mount a rally, falling by the final, 25-17, score, to lose to the Terriers, 3-1.

Player of the Match
Behind Caroline Henderson and her team-leading 11 kills, was Erin Eulitz with nine. Jaclyn Brewington added 14 assists, with Daley Gosnell finishing with 17 digs. C Cronister led the Terriers with 22 kills on the night. Erin Eulitz converted four service aces as well.

Stat of the Match
Wofford held the kills advantage, 56-39, and hitting percentage, .257-.106. The Blue Hose recorded 11 service aces, compared to just two for Wofford.

The match was the 10th four-set match of the season for PC.
The 11 service aces are second in PC’s Division I record book for aces in a four set match, it’s tied for seventh overall.

For the Record
PC drops to 4-12 overall, while Wofford improves to 12-6.
