USC Upstate used a three-run home run in the third inning to help secure the 4-0 win over the Presbyterian College softball team Sunday afternoon at the USC Upstate/Furman Classic held Feb. 18-19, in Greenville and Spartanburg, S.C.

Scoring the Game
USC Upstate opened up the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first off a sacrifice bunt by Abbie Millete to score Ryan Rector, who had reached on a fielder’s choice.

Millete tacked on three more runs in the third, with a three-run home run over the left field wall.

Final Lines
PC finished with no runs off two hits and no errors, while USC Upstate posted four runs off six hits and no errors.

Katie Brown (1-4) threw a complete game for PC, surrendering four earned runs off six hits, with one strikeout. Lexi Shubert (5-1) pitched seven innings for USC Upstate, picking up the win after giving up just two hits and no runs, while striking out eight.

For the Record
PC falls to 2-8 on the season, while USC Upstate moves to 9-2.

Up Next
PC heads to Charleston, S.C., Feb. 24-26, to take part in the Willie Jewell’s Invitational on the campus of Charleston Southern. The Blue Hose face Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday at 9 a.m., and Boise State at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday’s action includes a 1 p.m., game against S.C. State each day.
