Chris Clemons scored 23 points and hit six three-pointers, including five in the first half, to help Campbell hold off several Blue Hose rallies and take the 70-57 win over the Presbyterian College men’s basketball team in Big South action Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C. Ed Drew paced the Blue Hose with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Ed Drew scored 13 points and was six-of-12 from the field, to lead the Blue Hose. His seven rebounds was also tops for the team. Close behind was Jaron Withers with his 12 points and Armel TeTe with 10.

Stat of the Game
Campbell hit 11 three-pointers and shot 51.2% from the field, while PC hit just two threes and shot 39.3%. The Blue Hose did shoot 42.9% in the second half, but the Camels responded with 50%. The Blue Hose dominated in the paint, 34-18, but were just 16.7% from the perimeter.

How It Happened
Ahead by two with just over16 minutes to play in the first Campbell collected three straight treys, including two from Chris Clemons, to build a 15-4 lead, 12:07 on the clock. An 8-1 run by PC, which included six points from Jaron Withers, cut the deficit to four, 16-12, 9:53 left. A Ruben Arroyo jumper cut the margin to five at 6:41 but it was Campbell the next couple of minutes with eight unanswered, five straight from Shane Whitfield, to make it a 13-point game, 29-16. The Camels extended their lead to 14 before a Blue Hose 8-0 run turned it into a six point affair, 32-26, 1:12 on the clock. A small 5-1 run by Campbell gave the Camels a 37-27 lead at intermission.

A 14-point lead for Campbell with 17:45 to go, PC used a 9-0 run, highlighted by five points from Ed Drew, to trail by just five, 43-38, 14:29 left. Down by seven again, Darius Moore hit his first three-pointer of the afternoon to cut the margin to four, 45-41, 12:22 to go. A 9-4 run by Campbell would increase the visitor lead to 10, 57-47, 8:12 left. A back and forth battle the next five minutes, Campbell was able to hold on to its double-digit lead, holding a 60-49 advantage off a Kyre’ Hamer three-pointer at 3:30. Armel TeTe’s lay-up at 2:47 cut the Campbell lead to nine, but the Camels hit six of seven free throws down the stretch to come away with the 70-57 win.

Armel TeTe tied his career-high with 10 points, going five-of-nine from the field.

Jaron Withers posted a career-best with his 12 on the afternoon. His sis assists was also a career-high.

Ed Drew scored double-digit points for the fourth time in his last five games.

For the Record
PC drops to to 5-20 overall and 1-13 in the league, while Campbell improves to 13-13, 6-8.
