JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team opened the Jacksonville Classic with a 3-0 loss to the host Dolphins in action Friday evening. The Blue Hose fell by scores of 25-17, 25-19, and 25-20. Freshman Erin Eulitz made her debut for PC, leading the team with nine kills.

How it Happened
Jacksonville’s Mallory Mattingly recorded a match high 12 kills, while Cristina Finan added seven as the Dolphins posted 38 total kills and 47 digs to keep the Blue Hose a bay. PC recorded 27 kills, with Eulitz and Sierra Davis leading the way with nine and six, respectively. PC and JU were tied 9-9 in the first set but the Dolphins went on an 8-0 run to take a 17-10 lead and never looked back in the 25-17 win. Down 18-11 in set two, PC fought back to within three, 21-18, off two services aces from Sara Rogers and kills from Halle Tripp and Martina Shamley. JU took the next four of five points, though, to squash the rally in the 25-19 victory. PC rallied in the third set as well, to make it a four-point set, 23-19, but it was too little too late with the Blue Hose mustering just one more point in the 25-20 loss.

Players of the Match
Erin Eulitz made her collegiate debut with nine kills to lead PC on offense. Sara Rogers was impressive as well, recording a kill, four digs, 16 assists, and two aces. Mikayla Register was solid on defense with her 16 digs.

Stat of the Match
PC posted 27 kills off 108 attacks, but Jacksonville seemed to have an answer for the Blue Hose, posting 47 digs and six block assists, forcing 24 errors on the night. The Dolphins had 11 more kills with 38, and eight less errors, for a .232 hitting percentage.

Notables
• PC was held to a season-low .028 hitting percentage after collecting a season-high 24 errors off 27 kills. The Blue Hose recorded a season-high 108 attack attempts.
• With one ace Friday night, Mikayla Register moved to within three of the top five PC Division I career mark. She has 74.
Sara Rogers’ two service aces were just one shy of her career high.

PC moves to 2-2, while Jacksonville improves to 3-1.
