KISSIMMEE, FLA – Freshman Sally Hart (Raleigh, NC) ran a school record of 19:40 at the Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning, breaking the 18-year old mark by five seconds. Hart's record breaking performance led the Presbyterian College women’s cross country team to 15th of 34 teams.

Ripley Fricano (Atlanta, Ga) ran a personal best 20:39, an improvement of nearly 40 seconds. Bea DiBona (Charleston, SC) and Sarah Jennings (Lexington, SC) both ran season’s bests times of 20:59 and 21:32 respectively. Senior Hayley McCoy rounded out the top-5 at 21:45. Hydia Green (Union, SC) improved to run 22:22, Lacey Hornaday (Summerville, SC) ran 24:12 in her first collegiate race and Abby Waldron (Clinton, SC) ran 25:25.

The women's team has now broken every major record (4k, 5k, 6k) at PC in the first five races of this season. Today, they averaged an impressive 20:55 on ESPN's Wide World of Sports course.

Johns Hopkins’ Sophia Meehan won the individual title with a time of 17:41 while her team had six runners in the top-10. The Blue Jays scored 24 points and won the team title by a whopping 70 points.

In the men’s race, Duncan Gotfredson (Berkeley Lake, Ga) led PC with an 8k time of 27:33, leading the Blue Hose to 17th of 25 teams. It is the second time this season the freshman has taken top-honors for PC.

Close behind, Preston Meade (Alpharetta, Ga) crossed in 27:53. Next, senior Reid McCandless (Fort Mill, SC) finished in 28:52. Alex Johnson (Lexington, SC) was fourth for PC in 29:11 and Chris Sacco (Rock Hill, SC) fifth at 29:42. Freshman Jake Birdsong (Summerville, SC) ran a personal best 30:30 and senior Caleb Weathers (Woodruff, SC) ran 31:25.

Tiffin’s James Ngandu won the 8k individual title with a time of 24:37. Yougstown State put four in the top-15 to win the team title with a low score of 52 points.

The PC cross country teams will next race at the College of Charleston Invite on Friday, October 16. The race has been relocated to Rock Hill, SC, and the campus of Winthrop due to last week’s historic flooding.  The women’s race will begin at 4:45 pm with the men running at 5:15 pm.
