STATESBORO, Ga. – Presbyterian College got shut out 2-0 by Georgia Southern Wednesday night at Eagle Field.
The Blue Hose men’s soccer team fell to 0-2 on the year, while the Eagles went to 1-2 on the season.
Presbyterian took 11 shots and were able to get three on frame. Bruce Olivier (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Mason Lewis (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) each had a shot and was on goal, while Donovan Waddell (Columbia, S.C.) took two shots and one on frame.
John Speed (Decatur, Ga.) took a free kick in the 17th minute from 30 yards out that hit the crossbar and went over the goal.
The Blue Hose and Eagles both took clean slates into the locker room at halftime.
Eric Dinka struck in the 57th minute when he beat the keeper inside the 18-yard box for his second of the season to put the Eagles up 1-0. Georgia Southern found the back of the net again in the 80th minute. Jeremy Rector took a shot from 10 yards out that crossed the goal line.
Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) gathered six saves in the match.
The Blue Hose come home 7 p.m. Saturday and host USC Upstate at Martin Stadium.
