CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team dropped the season opener 3-1 to LIU Brooklyn Friday night at Martin Stadium.

The Blue Hose lone goal came in the second half on a throw in that deflected off a Blackbird defender’s head into the goal.

The score was tied 0-0 heading into the locker room with LIU getting two shots on goal, while PC generated one.

In the 47th minute the Blackbirds Rasmus Hansen sent a cross into the 18-yard box and was finished with a header by Romario Guscott inside the box for the first goal of the season. Guscott collected his second goal of the season in the 49th minute in a similar fashion. Tanner Sica sent a cross in from the left side and Guscott finished at the back post.

LIU collected the third goal in the 55th minute off the foot of Rasmus.

The Blue Hose scored on an own goal in the 89th minute with a throw in deep in Blackbird territory.

Johnny Archer (Charlotte, N.C.) collected three saves for the Blue Hose.

PC travels to take on Georgia Southern 6 p.m. Wednesday.
