Men's Golf Signs Three for 2015-16 Season

CLINTON, SC – Presbyterian College and head men's golf coach Thomas Addison announced the signing of Cole Patterson (Travelers Rest, SC), Weston Sanders (Greenwood, SC) and Will Strickland (Greenville, SC) to National Letters of Intent on Monday.

Patterson joins the Blue Hose after playing six seasons for Travelers Rest High School.  He finished third at the SCHSL State Tournament as a sophomore and fifth as a junior.  He tied the school record for 9 holes (31) and has a low round of 70 for 18 holes. As a sophomore, he was All-State and qualified for the Big “I” National Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.  As a junior, Patterson qualified for the US Junior Amateur in Houston, Texas, and represented South Carolina in the Carolinas vs Virginias matches.  A true student-athlete, Patterson is involved with the Student Council and was Student Body President.  He chose PC because of the campus, quality of education and overall environment.

Sanders joins the Blue Hose from Emerald High School where he was all-region as a freshman, sophomore and junior.  He shot 145 (75, 70) to finish runner-up at the 2012 College Prep Series at the Clemson Golf Club.  Later, he tied for 7th at the 2013 Greenwood Junior Challenge after shooting 147 (76, 71).  Sanders ranks in Emerald High School's top-10 all-time scoring averages.  He chose PC because of Coach Addison and the campus environment.

Strickland joins the Blue Hose after playing six seasons at Riverside High School where he qualified for the SCHSL State Tournament five consecutive times.  He was named All-Tournament on six occasions and twice named All-County.  As a seventh grader, Strickland became the youngest player to make the State Amateur.  His 18-hole best is an impressive 66.  As a student, Strickland was a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society.  He chose PC because of the campus, people and team.

“We are happy to have these three exceptional gentleman joining our team next season,” Addison said. “They all have high ambition and lofty goals that will help continue to compete for tournament titles and improve our program records.”

The men's golf team just finished a successful fall campaign that saw PC earn Conference Freshman Golfer of the Week honors twice, Player of the Week honors once and set individual program records for both 18 and 36 holes.

The Blue Hose will open their spring season at the Wexford Intercollegiate on February 23, at Hilton Head Island, SC.
