PC Baseball To Face No. 1 Vanderbilt in Wednesday Night Road Tilt

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team resumes its midweek schedule on Wednesday night with a clash against the No. 1 Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville. First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.

Eric Thacker will broadcast the game live on 91.9 WKRI-FM and on GoBlueHose.com.

PC (23-25) will aim to stop a four-game losing skid with a win against Vanderbilt (41-6), who enters Wednesday with the nation's top ranking in the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball polls along with an eight-game winning streak.

Lefthanded pitcher Tim Corbin (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) will likely start for PC against the Commodores, who are coached by former Presbyterian College head coach Tim Corbin (no relation.) Corbin made his first career start on April 16 this against Georgia, allowing only six hits in six innings. Vanderbilt will likely send RHP TJ Pecoraro (3.93, 2-1) to the hill.

The Blue Hose dropped three games last week to No. 5/10 North Carolina State on the road after taking final exams during the week. Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) hit his fourth home run of the season in Sunday's series finale and Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) allowed one earned run for the second straight start but took his second consecutive loss. Both Jeter (2.16 ERA) and Beau Dees (2.52 ERA) boast sub-3.00 earned run averages.

Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) leads PC with a .309 batting average and Zebedis' 29 RBI pace the team in that category. Aaron Preston (Goose Creek, S.C.) leads the team in slugging percentage (.419), on-base percentage (.396) and walks (24).

Vanderbilt played only two games during last week, winning both against No. 15 South Carolina before rain washed out Sunday's series finale. The series victory is the 12th of the season and 16th straight dating back to last year and eighth sweep of the year, including six in the Southeastern Conference play. Tony Kemp leads the team with a .392 batting average while Connor Harrell's 52 RBI leads the team in that category and rank 17th in the nation. The Commodores also rank 10th in the country in batting average.

Following Wednesday's game, PC will host Longwood in the final series of the season against Longwood, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
