The Presbyterian College softball team rounds out its eight-game home stand with a three-game series against Radford April 13-14 at the PC Softball Complex in Clinton, S.C. The Blue Hose host the Highlanders Saturday in a doubleheader which begins at 1 p.m. First pitch of the third and final game will be at 1 p.m., Sunday.
The annual "Strike Out Cancer" game will be held Saturday with each strikeout by pitchers from either team resulting in money being donated to help fight cancer. All donations will go to the American Cancer Society.
The PC players will also be wearing special jerseys that will sold after the game, with all proceeds going towards the ACS.
The doubleheader will also be streamed live on the Big South Network presented by State Farm. Fans can login to watch online at www.BigSouthSports.com.
The Blue Hose are 18-21 overall and 4-8 in the Big South after dropping a pair to Gardner Webb this past week. Leading PC on offense is Erin Ruff with her .351 batting average. She is one of four players with over 20 RBI (29). Kersten Legacki paces the team with her 33. Shelby Petik sits with 29 as well, while Cat Tarvin has 21 after 39 games.
Petik has 10 home runs and sits atop the team leader board, while Morgan Durham is second with her eight on the season.
Kensley Loudermelk leads the Blue Hose in the circle with her 74 strikeouts in 106.0 innings. Cat Tarvin is pacing PC in ERA with her 3.85 in 47.1 innings.
Radford is 14-22 overall and 7-5 in the league and are coming off back-to-back losses against Longwood. The Highlanders are led by Becky Mantel with her .316 batting average and Jessie Hutchens with her 29 RBI. Rachael Walters paces RU in the circle with a 3.26 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 103.0 innings.
After an April 16th stop at South Carolina for a 6 p.m. game, the Blue Hose are back in conference action April 20-21 with a three-game series at Coastal Carolina. First pitch on both days is slated for 1 p.m.
