BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell in a Big South Conference match on the road Monday, as Gardner-Webb downed the Blue Hose by a 6-1 verdict.
PC moves to 7-12 on the year and 0-6 in the Big South while Gardner-Webb improves to 6-10 overall and 2-3 in league action.
PC's point came from a Lucia Leahy (Charlotte, N.C.) victory by default.
The Blue Hose battled to a pair of tough losses at the third and fourth sets. Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) nearly came out victorious against Jenny Lunde at No. 3 before falling, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6, while Courtney Gardiner (Powder Springs, Ga.) dropped a fourth-flight contest to Valeriia Popko, 5-7, 6-4, 10-4.
Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) came up short to Yasmin Doost at the second flight, 6-3, 6-2, and Erica White topped Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) at the first flight, 6-0, 6-2.
In the only other singles match, Rokia Sacko bested Lindsay Krause (Roswell, Ga.) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Krause and Haley Elliott (Greenville, S.C.) won by default before the Runnin' Bulldogs won a pair of matches by 8-4 and 8-3 scores.
