CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match to East Carolina on Friday afternoon at Templeton Tennis Courts, 6-1.

PC moves to 6-8 on the year while East Carolina improves to 8-4.

Greer Ransom (Athens, Ga.) picked up wins at both singles and doubles with partner Haley Elliott (Greenville, S.C.). The sophomore knocked off Neena Wanko at the top flight, 6-4, 6-3 fo r PC's lone singles win. Ransom teamed up with Elliott to best Melis Tanik and Yilian Zhang at No. 2 doubles via retirement.

The singles result marked Ransom's second straight win.

Both other PC doubles pairs lost by 8-1 margins as East Carolina took an early lead.

In singles play, Patricia Alves (Campinas, Brazil) fell to Tanik at the second flight, 6-2, 6-3 while Courtney Gardiner (Powder Springs, Ga.) stumbled at No. 3 to Zhang, 6-2, 6-0.

Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) fell at No. 4 to Danielle Terpko, 6-4, 6-3, and Kayla Stanford (Canton, Ga.) lost to Nicole LaDuca at No. 5, 6-2, 6-3. In the day's sixth flight match, Lucia Leahy (Charlotte, N.C.) suffered a setback against Abby Richmond, 6-2, 6-1.

The Blue Hose wrap up non-conference play on Monday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. when PC hosts Albany.
