LOS ANGELES – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team
heads to Los Angeles this weekend for a pair of matches against the University
of Southern California and the Fresno State Bulldogs.
PC (0-1) begins its trip with a matchup against the USC
Trojans (0-2) on Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern time at McAlister Field. The Women of
Troy are in their inaugural season as a program, dropping their first-ever
women's lacrosse game to No. 2 Northwestern on Saturday before falling to
Massachusetts on Sunday, 18-9.
The game will mark PC's first trip to California in program
history. USC's media relations department will provide live stats and video on
USCTrojans.com.
The Blue Hose then match up against Fresno State (0-0) on
Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Bulldogs' 2013 season opener. PC holds a 2-0 record
over Fresno State. The Blue Hose won the first matchup in Detroit in 2009,
18-8, before holding off the Bulldogs in Clinton in 2011, 14-11.
PC dropped its season opener at No. 7 Duke on Sunday, 23-0.
Lauren Lefeber (Waxhaw, N.C.) paced the squad with two shots while Bridget
Hogan (Charlotte, N.C.) made 10 saves on the afternoon. Jaime Beamish (Memphis,
Tenn.) led the team in ground balls with Bonnie Corrigan (Yorktown, Va.), with
two, and draw controls, with three.
Corrigan paced the Blue Hose in caused turnovers, with two.
Following this weekend's action, PC returns home to open its
home schedule on Saturday, February 23 against Jacksonville. The opening draw
is slated for 1 p.m.
