CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's tennis team
will host nine matches at the Templeton Tennis Courts in 2013 as the Blue Hose
look build on an historic 2012 spring, head coach Adam Herendeen announced in
releasing the season schedule.
"We are very excited about our schedule for 2013 season,”
said Herendeen. “We played a challenging schedule this fall and that will
continue into the non-conference portion of our spring. These tough early
season road matches are going to help us prepare for our conference matches at
the end of the year."
In 2012, the Blue Hose reached the Big South Conference championship match for the first time ever and set numerous Division I-era records.
The spring sees the Blue Hose battle through an ambitious
non-conference schedule, taking on programs like South Carolina, Appalachian
State, College of Charleston, Charlotte and Furman.
The 2013 campaign begins on Saturday, January 12 with a road
trip to the Gamecocks of South Carolina.
PC returns home to open its home slate against Troy on
Friday, January 18.
Four matches on the road await the team next, including USC
Upstate (January 20), Appalachian State (January 26) and Davidson and Wingate
in Davidson, N.C., on February 2.
The Blue Hose then host the College of Charleston in a
Saturday morning tilt on February 9 before heading to Furman the following day.
North Carolina Central (February 17) appears next before the
Blue Hose begin Big South Conference play on the road at Longwood on Sunday,
February 28.
PC plays its last home match for nearly a month when the
squad hosts South Carolina State on Wednesday, February 20.
After road contests
at Kennesaw State and Charlotte, PC heads to Orlando, Fla., for Spring Break
matches against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, South Dakota State, St. Joseph's
and Grand Valley State.
A three-match homestand will have PC take on Coker and Limestone
on Saturday, March 16, before the Blue Hose host Coastal Carolina on Thursday,
March 21. The match against the Chanticleers kicks off a season-ending run of league matchups.
PC wraps up road play with appearances at Gardner-Webb , Liberty
and Radford before ending the regular season with three tilts at home against
UNC Asheville (April 3), Campbell (April 6) and Winthrop (April 12).
The Blue Hose enter the spring with a 2-0 dual record after knocking off Spartanburg Methodist and Newberry on September 29.
