PC senior Joe Wideman knows all too well the challenges a PC student-athlete faces balancing academics and athletics. The morning of October 6th, the linebacker on the Blue Hose football team took the LSAT, law school entrance exam, before taking the field against VMI in an away game that same afternoon.

“I would say it was one of the most difficult things I've had to do,” Wideman said.

The business administration major took the exam at Washington & Lee University in Virginia, 45 minutes away from the team's hotel. A coach drove him up to Virginia early, ahead of the rest of the team, to ensure Joe arrived in time for the exam.

“The test itself took about three and a half hours,” Wideman  said, “and afterwards I had to go to the stadium.”

While the LSAT is offered on multiple days, October 6th was the only day Wideman could take the exam to be considered for early admission. He wants to begin applying for law school soon and is confident he will be ready.

Wideman says managing time effectively, which a student-athlete must be able to do, is excellent preparation for law school.

“PC makes a person well-rounded,” Wideman added. “That aspect will make going from PC to law school an easy transition.”
