Langley Named New Cheerleading Coach
Presbyterian College Director of Athletics Brian Reese announced today that Cindy Langley has been named Head Cheerleading Coach.
"I am very happy to have Cindy (Langley) join our staff," said Reese. "The wealth of experience she brings to the position is immeasurable. She is a tremendous coach, having earned multiple championships and honors at Greenville and Palmetto High, and I look forward to her leading the Blue Hose cheerleading program."
Langley is currently a Project Lead the Way and GreenSTEM instructor at the Anderson District I & II Career and Technology Center, where she has served since 2007. She is also an advisor with the FIRST Robotics program and has led them to the World Championship competition every year from 2008 to this past year.
An educator for most of her professional career, Langley started out as a mathematics instructor at the Greenville Sylvan Learning Center and Hughes Academy, before beginning her work with Project Lead the Way at Greenville High School in 2000. At Greenville High she was also involved with the FIRST robotics team, the Spirit Committee and the competitive cheer program, of which she became head coach in 2000.
Langley served as head coach at Greenville High from 2001 - 20006, and a consultant/coach from 2007-2010. During her tenure the team won nine regional championships, advanced to the state championships eight times, and won three of them. Greenville High was also a five-time Upper State Champion.
Langley was named Region Coach-of-the-Year four times at Greenville High, including after just her first year of coaching in 2001. She was also nominated that year for State Cheerleading Coach-of-the-Year.
From 2008-2010, Langley served as consultant/coach at Palmetto High School. While there the team was Region Champion and State Championship runners-up all three years. In 2010, Palmetto High earned Upper State Championship honors as well.
"I am so excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Presbyterian College community and its cheerleading program," said Langley. "It is truly a privilege to be a part of such an amazing program and I look forward to continue promoting the mission and vision of PC Athletics while learning from and working with each member of the PC family. Go Hose!"
Langley earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Anderson, and her Mechanical Engineering degree from Clemson.
