CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's basketball team (8-10, 2-5) kicks off a Blue Hose doubleheader on Saturday evening with a matchup against Campbell (11-7, 4-3) at Templeton Center at 5 p.m. The men's squad follows against Charleston Southern at 7:30 p.m. The Blue Hose will look to stop a two-game skid after losses to Liberty (59-39) and Radford (53-39) last weekend. Saturday's game marks PC's Pack the House game as the team also welcomes back women's basketball alumni.
The Blue Hose will look for their second straight win in the second all-time meeting between the two sides. PC knocked off Campbell in dramatic fashion last season, 53-51, at Templeton Center on December 30, 2010. Karlee Taylor tied a team-high 10 points in the win, while Campbell's Tonisha Baker scored 17 points for the Camels. Campbell makes its return to the Big South Conference this season after leaving the conference for the Atlantic Sun in 1994.
Campbell enters Saturday's game on a two-game winning streak following wins over Charleston Southern (70-56) and Coastal Carolina (58-55) at home over the weekend. The Camels will look for their first road win since November 25. Tonisha Baker leads the team with 13.1 points per game and the Lady Camels rank second in the Big South in field goal percentage defense (37.5 percent).
PC fell by a 52-29 margin at Radford on Monday night after a promising Blue Hose start gave way to several Highlander runs and a cold shooting performance from PC. Dria David led the team with 12 points and Chelsea Parker blocked two shots and grabbed four steals, both game-highs and career-bests for the junior.
Mariah Pietrowski earned an historic milestone against the Flames, earning her 800th career point and 400th career rebound, becoming the first person in PC's Division I feat to crack the 800-point barrier and the second to reach 400 rebounds. Earlier this season, Pietrowski passed 700 points and overtook Amanda Mills' 722 points at the top of the school's D-I scoring list.
Over the last five games, Mariah Pietrowski leads the team in scoring (10.8), one of three players to average in double figures. Sherece Smith leads the team on the boards, posting a rebounding average of 7.4 per game. Karlee Taylor (10.6) and Dria David (10.0) have also averaged points in the double-digits over the team's last five.
The Blue Hose stay at home for a Monday night contest against High Point at 7 p.m. PC will look for their first-ever win over the league-leading Panthers in the ninth meeting all-time.
