CLINTON, S.C. - Redshirt-sophomore Michael Ruff earned honorable mention
Wide Receiver Performer of the Week honors by the College Football Performance
Awards announced Monday morning.
Ruff, who hauled in a career-high four receptions against Wake Forest,
accounted for 122 yards and a touchdown. His 122 receiving yards were more than
he had during the entire 2009 season.
Ruff was on the receiving end of a 68-yard touchdown pass from Derrick Overholt
late in the second quarter. The play, which started with Jared Tavernier's snap
to Brandon Miley, earned the top spot on SportsCenter's Top Ten Plays of the
Day.
After Miley took the snap, he lateralled the ball to Overholt on a bounce pass.
Overholt then acted as if the ball was incomplete before launching the pass to
a wide open Ruff, who raced in for the score.
Ruff and the rest of the Blue Hose take on Clemson Saturday afternoon at 3:30
p.m. The game is being broadcast by ESPN3.com.
