CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College head
softball coach Dave Majeski is proud to announce the addition of Tony Genovese
as an assistant softball coach for the 2011 season. Genovese joins the Blue Hose following a solid 2010 season at Liberty High School in Liberty, S.C.
"I first came
into contact with Tony years ago while he was coaching one of the best summer
prep teams in the country," said Majeski.
"After annually recruiting his players, our paths crossed so much that I
got to know his style and methods of instruction. Somehow I was finally lucky
enough to have him move to SC and be available for our position. With him on
staff, we have an experienced teacher and coach who will prove to be
invaluable to our team."
For the last
three seasons, Genovese has been the head coach at Liberty High School team
where he won the state title last season.
Prior to coming to South Carolina, he was the head coach at Norco High School
in Norco, Calif. from 1996-2007. While
at Norco, he won the state championship in 1996 and 2003 as well as reached the
state semifinals on four occasions.
He has worked
with numerous travel clubs most recently with the Carolina Elite U-16 team.
Genovese also
has experience in Baseball, working 15 years as a baseball coach and as a
professional scout for the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He played professionally for in the Angels
organization.
Genovese
resides in Easley, S.C. with his wife Kathleen.
He has two daughters, Rene' and Adrienne, as well as grandchildren
Anthony and Campbell.
