CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College head
baseball coach Elton Pollock is pleased to
announce the promotion of Chris Edwards to pitching coach and the addition of
Josh Davis as an assistant coach for the 2011 season.
Edwards just
completed his second season with the Blue Hose baseball team as an assistant
coach. He has worked with the Blue Hose
catchers and hitters for the last two seasons in addition to assisting with
recruiting. Edwards' new duties will
include working with the pitching staff and serving as Recruiting Coordinator. He replaces Mark Johnson who left following
the season to pursue other opportunities.
"Chris has
been a huge asset to our program over the last two seasons," said head coach
Elton Pollock. "I'm excited about his
new role within our team going into our final transitional year."
Davis joins
the Blue Hose following a three-year stint at Richland Community College. Davis was the top assistant for the
Thunderducks who won the 2009 NJCAA National Championship and finished in third
place at the 2008 NJCAA College World Series.
Collegiately, Davis played one season for Virginia Tech before
transferring to Tallahassee Community College for a season. He then closed his collegiate career with two
seasons at Charleston Southern University.
He played professionally in 2005 as a pitcher in the Chicago Cubs
organization. Davis is the son of
two-time Cubs all-star Jody Davis.
"We're excited
to have Josh join the Blue Hose baseball family," said Pollock. "Josh has a championship pedigree that will
help our program grow as we approach full Division I eligibility in the 2012
baseball season."
