Presbyterian College's drive for its first Big South
Conference title begins on Thursday morning at the Big South Conference
Softball Tournament in Conway, S.C.
The Blue Hose are the seventh seed for the tournament and will face
second seeded Liberty in the first round.
This year's tournament appearance is PC's first in program history.
The Blue Hose are led by Taylor Staten's .331 batting
average in 2010. The junior third
baseman has seven home runs and seven doubles to rank as PC's top slugger with
a .547 slugging percentage. On the
bases, Tera Powell has stolen 19-of-20 attempts and is hitting .296 a week
after she earned Big South Player of the Week honors in PC's series victory
over Liberty. She hit .889 against the
Flames to close out the league season.
