ROCK HILL, S.C. - Presbyterian College freshman Micah Dowling finished the Winthrop University Intercollegiate tied for ninth place on Tuesday. Dowling had a school-record three-round score of 239 (84, 78, 77) to help lead the Blue Hose to a sixth place finish and team-record three-round score of 983 (334, 322, 327).
Sophomore Kasay Holbrook tied for 17th with a score of 242 (79, 83, 80) to also finish in the top-20 golfers and establish a personal best. Holbrook held the previous school record for three rounds at 247.
Freshman Kim Carpenter finished at 253 (88, 79, 86) and tied for 35th. Senior Kristen Cometto tied for 40th with a three-round tally of 255 (83, 82, 90). Junior Amanda Hamlett claimed 49th with a tournament tally of 262 (91, 87, 84).
Winthrop's Rachel Smith won individual medalist honors at 228 (78, 77, 73). Xavier University defeated Belmont Abbey in a playoff hole to win the team championship (949; 321, 320, 308).
This was an improvement from last year when the Blue Hose finished ninth with a team score of 1050 and no golfers in the top-20.
PC will return to play on April 4-6 when they travel to Morganton, N.C. to compete in the Minosa Hills Intercollegiate.
