CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's tennis team posted a
resounding 6-1 decision over North Carolina Central Tuesday afternoon at the PC
Tennis Complex.
The Blue Hose (5-10) swept through the singles competition, as the teams
started with individual play before moving to doubles competition.
Andrew Brigham started things off right for head coach Patric Hynes team by
downing Alejandro Espitia at the top spot by a 6-2, 6-2 score. Second-seeded
Matt Martin posted a solid 7-6, 6-2 sweep of Jack Waissen.
Zach Sprouse, who competed at No. 3, moved to 3-0 on the season at that
position after downing Bryan Jackson 6-0, 6-1.
Edward Snead IV, the reigning Big South Conference Freshman of the Week,
recorded a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Jose Fabara at No. 4.
Sixth-seeded Ryan Walters picked up his third win of the season at No. 6 with a
strong 6-0, 6-0 decision over Stephen Allsop.
Ivan Ho saw time at the No. 5 spot during the match. He posted a solid 6-2,
6-7, 10-7 win over Trey Chatman in the longest match of the day. The win helped
PC lead 6-0 heading into the doubles portion of the match.
The doubles side of the competition saw PC win one of the three matches, which
gave the visitors one point for the match.
Martin and Sprouse downed Waissen and Chatman by an 8-2 score at the top slot. Snead
and Zaher dropped a hard-fought 8-5 decision to Espitia and Fabara at No. 2. Scott
Greenbaum and Walters teamed up for the first time this season at the third
spot and lost an 8-5 contest to Allsop and Jackson.
The Blue Hose, who have won four of their last six, return to action tomorrow
at Winthrop. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
