PC-COASTAL CAROLINA: The Blue Hose welcome Coastal Carolina to Bailey Memorial Stadium for the first time in program history. The game against the Chanticleers is Senior Day at Bailey Memorial Stadium and PC will honor its seniors prior to the start of the game.

STRONG FOUR YEARS: Despite the home loss to Western Carolina earlier this year, the Blue Hose 2008 senior class has experienced a great deal of success inside the friendly confines of Bailey Memorial Stadium. This year's senior class has gone 15-4 at home entering Senior Day against Coastal Carolina.

SERIES: The Blue Hose and Chanticleers have met on the gridiron just once before with PC earning a 41-34 overtime victory in the only meeting between the two programs last season.

LAST SEASON: In one of the largest comebacks in Presbyterian College football history, the Blue Hose erased a one time 24-point deficit to defeat the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 41-34 in overtime at Brooks Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007. PC tallied the game-winning touchdown in the first overtime when Tim Webb (Lugoff, S.C.) found Justin Durant (Florence, S.C.) for a 25-yard touchdown reception that gave PC a 41-34 lead after Cam Miller's (Lyman, S.C.) successful extra point. In NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision Football the rules state that each team gets a possession starting at their opponents' 25-yard line and after PC scored on their possession the Blue Hose defense held strong defensively in CCU's possession, forcing the Chanticleers into a fourth and 21. Coastal Carolina starting quarterback Will Richardson's pass fell short on the fourth and 21 and the Blue Hose walked away with the seven point victory. The victory by PC marked the first time that an opponent had come into Brooks Stadium and earned a victory when trailing the Chants at halftime. Entering the game with PC, Coastal Carolina was 16-0 at home when taking a lead into intermission. After taking their first lead of the game at 27-24 with just over five minutes left in the game, PC allowed CCU's Arthur Sitton to score from seven yards out and give the Chants back the lead at 31-27. The Blue Hose would not let that lead last as on its next possession wide receiver Terrance Butler (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) made it a happy homecoming for himself when he caught a 28-yard pass from Webb to put PC back on top 34-31. CCU drove down the field on its next drive to square the game at 34-34 after a Justin Durham 32-yard field goal. The Blue Hose then kneeled on the ball to send the game into overtime. Butler concluded the CCU win with a game-high 185 all purpose yards, including a team-high 130 yards receiving. S.J. Worrell (Madison, Ga.) had 127 all purpose yards in the victory, finishing the game with 44 rushing yards, which included a career-best three rushing touchdowns. For the second consecutive contest, Ryan Anderson (Forest, Va.) finished his efforts by leading the PC defensive unit with nine total tackles. In another happy homecoming, Chris Bowman (Conway, S.C.) tied Anderson for the team-high in total tackles with nine total stops. Bowman also had 2.5 tackles-for-loss in the game.

GOING BIG: PC has now taken on every team in the league the last two years but Stony Brook. The Blue Hose were not officially eligible to be included in the Big South Conference standings in 2007, but the Blue Hose finished the year 2-2 against their future league foes. The Blue Hose picked up league wins over VMI and Coastal Carolina in 2007.

GOING BIG, PART TWO: The Blue Hose are 3-4 against teams from the Big South since moving to NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level in 2007. PC has defeated league foes Liberty, Coastal Carolina and VMI over the last two years.

FULLY INCORPORATED: The home game against Coastal Carolina is not officially a Big South Conference game as PC is not officially eligible for the championship until next season (2009). Still, the Big South Conference Athletic Directors voted in late July to allow Presbyterian College football student-athletes to become eligible for postseason All-Conference awards during the 2008 season. This new mandate by the Big South Conference will allow PC to be entitled to earn All-Conference accolades in 14 varsity sports during the 2008-09 school year. The Big South Conference does not sponsor men's and women's lacrosse.

THE ROAD TO STONY BROOK: The All-Conference eligibility for its football student-athletes was not the only accomplishment picked up by PC Director of Athletics Dr. William B. "Bee" Carlton and PC Head Coach Bobby Bentley in late July. Originally not scheduled to play new Big South Conference foe Stony Brook until 2011, Bentley and Carlton were able to work out a scheduling arrangement with Stony Brook Athletic Director Jim Friore and SBU Head Coach Chuck Priore to add the Seawolves to the Blue Hose football schedule in 2009 and 2010. The newly scheduled games allow the Blue Hose football team to compete against every Big South football-playing member beginning in 2009. The Blue Hose will now travel to Stony Brook on Oct. 3, 2009, while the Seawolves will visit Bailey Memorial Stadium for the first time on Oct. 2, 2010.

ELIGIBLE IN 2009: The newly scheduled contests with Stony Brook now allow the Blue Hose to become eligible for the regular season Big South Conference football championship beginning in 2009. Eligible for the regular season championship in all of its other 13 varsity sports that the Big South sponsors in the 2008-09 school year, PC will now become officially eligible for regular season championships and All-Conference honors and awards in every sport sponsored by the Big South beginning with the 2009-10 school year. The Blue Hose are not eligible to compete in either a conference tournament or an NCAA Division I tournament until the 2011-2012 school year, except for PC men's tennis and softball. PC men's tennis and softball are being placed on the "fast-track" allowed by NCAA regulations that permit two Olympic sports to be eligible for championships after only two transitional seasons. The PC men's tennis and softball programs will both be eligible to play in the Big South Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Championships in the spring of 2010. Overall, the 2008-09 school year will be the second year of PC's transition into NCAA Division I athletics. The Blue Hose are scheduled to receive full NCAA Division I status in 2011-12. All PC teams at the time will become eligible for Conference and NCAA postseason play and awards. Also in the 2011-12 school year, PC will become officially included in all NCAA Division I statistical categories.

HOME SWEET HOME: The Blue Hose have now won nine of their last 10 home games after the win over nationally-ranked Liberty at Bailey Memorial Stadium on November 1. PC is 7-1 at home under Bobby Bentley.

THE BATTLE OF PC ALUMNI: PC ? Presbyterian College head coach Bobby Bentley is in his second season as the mentor of the Blue Hose. Bentley is 10-11 all-time as a college head coach. The Blue Hose are 7-1 at home under Bentley. COASTAL CAROLINA ? David Bennett is in his seventh season in charge of the Coastal Carolina football program. The only coach that the young program has ever known, Bennett enters the game against his alma mater with a record of 44-22 at the helm of the Chanticleer program. Overall, in his 13th season as a head coach, Bennett is 107-39. Bennett graduated from PC in 1984.

BENNETT AGAINST PC: David Bennett is not just familiar with PC from having attended the institution, but Bennett also began his coaching career at PC's former South Atlantic Conference rival Catawba. Bennett coached at Catawba from 1995-2001 and holds an all-time record of 4-4 against the Blue Hose on the gridiron. Bennett won his first contest against his alma mater in 1995 before the Blue Hose won three straight in their rivalry with Catawba. Bennett closed out his time at Catawba against PC with three straight wins. The Blue Hose picked up the win the only time that Bennett has faced off against his alma mater as the Chanticleer mentor.

30 OR MORE: The Blue Hose are 2-0 in 2008 when scoring 30 or more points in a game. The Blue Hose defeated Fayetteville State 38-28 at Bailey Memorial Stadium and No. 17 Liberty 31-28 at home.

NOT SHUT OUT: It has been a while since the Blue Hose have been shut out by their opposition. PC has not been shut out in its last 28 games. The last time a Blue Hose team did not score in a game came during the 2006 season when Elon bested the Blue Hose 28-0. Coastal Carolina currently holds the Big South record for most games with a point. The Chanticleers have now scored in all 66 games in their history.

BALL HAWK: Antwan Thomas had a career-high tying 15 tackles in the loss to Charleston Southern. Thomas, who had nine solo stops and six assists against CSU, also had 15 tackles in PC's victory over VMI during the 2007 season. He now has 351 tackles overall in his Blue Hose career. The 351 tackles moved Thomas past Sam Pickney (347) into sole possession of second place in career tackles in PC football history. He passed Pickney with a sack of CSU quarterback Tribble Reese late in the second half. Thomas had entered the CSU contest tied with Jimmy Turner for third place with 336 tackles. Thomas now needs just three tackles over the next two games to tie Steve Stalvey (354) for most career tackles in a Blue Hose uniform. He has 98 tackles in 2008. Three more by Thomas would also set his career high. Thomas finished with 100 total tackles during PC's 2005 South Atlantic Conference championship season.

Career Total Tackles (Top Five)

1. Steve Stalvey (354)

2. Antwan Thomas (351)

THOMAS CONTINUES UP THE CHARTS: Antwan Thomas also now has 165 solo stops in his career to sit in sole possession of third place in the career solo tackles category in school history.

TFL EQUALS THOMAS FOR LOSS: Antwan Thomas' team season-high tying 4.0 tackles-for-loss against Charleston Southern allow him to enter the Coastal Carolina game second all-time in PC single-season tackles-for-loss with 13.5. With a half a tackle-for-loss Thomas would tie Nacomma Maxwell (2001) for the school record at 14.

McSACK: Adam McKinney currently leads the Big South Conference with 7.5 sacks in 2008. The 7.5 sacks by McKinney are good for sole possesion of sixth place in school history. Lawrence Jackson (1985) and Nacomma Maxwell (2001) own the school single season record with 11. McKinney's 7.5 sacks this season leave him entering the final home game of his career with 17.5 sacks in his career. The 17.5 sacks are good for third place all-time in the school annals. Jackson (1982-85) and Maxwell (1999-2001) own the school record with 23 sacks each in their career.

SHARING THE WEALTH: PC has had five receivers or more catch a pass in all 10 games this year. PC had a season-high 10 players make a catch against Charleston Southern. The Blue Hose had nine receivers catch a pass against Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb and Liberty. PC had eight players catch a pass against Elon, eight players catch a pass against Fayetteville State, seven players record a catch against NCCU and six players catch a pass against Wofford and North Greenville. The Blue Hose had five players make a catch against Western Carolina.

ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA: The Chanticleers travel to Clinton for the first time owning a 5-5 record. Coastal Carolina has won two of its last three games. The Chanticleers are just 1-3 in Big South competition, but they picked up a 23-18 victory over Gardner-Webb in their last outing.

PC LAST TIME OUT: Antwan Thomas finished with a career-high tying 15 tackles in Presbyterian College's 29-18 loss to Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon at Buccaneer Field. Brandon Miley (Wilmington, N.C./JT Hoggard) and Brandon Clark (Duluth, Ga./Buford) led the Blue Hose offensive attack against CSU. PC's starting quarterback, Miley, concluded Saturday's loss 23-for-36, passing for 230 yards and one touchdown. Clark hauled in a game-high tying six catches for 103 yards and one touchdown. CSU was led in its victory by Reese, who passed for 214 yards (16-21-1) and four touchdowns. Reese also ran for 22 yards. Gerald Stevenson was Reese's favorite target in the contest, bringing in a game-high tying six catches for two touchdowns. The Blue Hose had a total of 261 yards of offense in the game, while CSU finished with 319. The Blue Hose had 16 more yards passing (230-214) than CSU, but the Buccaneers held the advantage in rushing at 105-31. CSU had 18 first downs in the game compared to PC's 16.

WE WILL GO FIRST: PC has scored the first points in a game in five of its 10 games in 2008. PC scored first in the Wofford (8/30), Fayetteville State (9/6), Appalachian State (9/27), North Greenville (10/4) and NCCU (10/11) games.

.500: The Blue Hose need to win their final two games of the 2008 season to make sure that they do not suffer their first losing season since 2003. If PC were to finish below .500 it would be only the second time in the new millenium that the Blue Hose finished below .500.

SAFETY FIRST: When Justin Bethel picked up PC's final two points of the Charleston Southern game by blocking a punt for a safety in the fourth quarter it marked the first time that PC had secured points via a safety since tallying a safety in a defeat of Catawba during its South Atlantic Conference championship season of 2005.

BIG SOUTH PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (11/3): Presbyterian College quarterback Brandon Miley (Wilmington, N.C./JT Hoggard) and Blue Hose defensive back Anthony McKnight (Sumter, S.C./Crestwood) have been named the Big South football Choice Hotels Offensive Player of the Week and New Balance Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for games played in week 10 of the 2008 season, it was announced on Monday by the Conference office. In addition, PC kicker Cam Miller (Lyman, S.C./Byrnes) was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

NATIONALLY KNOWN (11/1): PC's victory over Liberty in its last home game was its first over a nationally-ranked opponent since the school made the move to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level in 2007. PC's last win before that over a ranked opponent came in a 10-0 victory over NCAA Division II No. 10 Newberry in the final Bronze Derby game on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006.

GO FOR TWO (10/4): Robert Bumgarner's successful catch on PC's two-point conversion in the fourth quarter against North Greenville marked the first time since PC's win over VMI in 2007 that the Blue Hose had acquired a two-point conversion in a game. Against VMI, Tim Webb connected with Terrance Butler for the two-point conversion.

THE MOST (9/27): Terrance Butler's 12 catches against Appalachian State were a career-best for the senior. It tied him with S.J. Worrell, who had 12 catches in the Wofford game, for the most catches in a single game under Bentley. Both players now have two games in their career with 10 or more catches.

HOME SWEET HOME, PART TWO (9/20): PC's home loss to Western Carolina was the first loss for the Blue Hose at home in almost two years. PC's six consecutive home victories entering the Western Carolina game will nevertheless still stand as a new Bailey Memorial Stadium record, besting the five straight home wins that the 2005 South Atlantic Conference champion Blue Hose accomplished during the regular season before falling to Central Arkansas in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. PC had not lost at Bailey Memorial Stadium prior to WCU since a 14-9 loss to Wingate on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006. PC started the six-game home winning streak with a 28-7 victory over NCAA Divison II power Carson-Newman on Oct. 28, 2006. New Bailey opened its doors during the 2002 season.

BIG SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (9/22): Presbyterian College punter Bryson Summers was named the Big South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the league office on Monday, Sept. 22. Summers (West Columbia, S.C./Airport) is the first Blue Hose football player to earn a Player of the Week honor from the Big South as PC just became eligible for the awards in 2008. Summers averaged 43.2 yards on five punts against Western Carolina. He pinned the Catamounts inside the 20-yard line three times. He also had three punts go 47 yards, and he hit a 44-yarder late in the game. Western Carolina managed just four punt returns for eight yards on the day. Summers currently has the top two punting days in the Big South in 2008. Summers' 47.3 yard per punt average against Wofford earlier this season is the best in the Big South so far and his 43.2 yard per punt average against the Catamounts is the second best in the league to date. Summers' 56-yard punt against Wofford is the longest in the Big South through the first four dates of the year.

RETURN TO SENDER (9/13): Just one week after entering the Big South record books with a 67-yard interception return against Fayetteville State, PC's Bo Tribble etched his name into the Big South record books again with a 75 yard fumble return for a touchdown against Elon. Tribble's 75 yard return is the fifth-longest in Big South history.

BO RETURNS (9/6): Bo Tribble's 67-yard interception return vs. Fayetteville State in the first quarter was the sixth-longest interception return in Big South history.

STEELE HOSE (Preseason): Phil Steele's National Preview Magazine recently named three Blue Hose Football players to their 2008 Preseason All-Big South teams. PC's Terrance Butler, Adam McKinney and Bryson Summers were all named to Phil Steele's All-Big South Second Team. Butler (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) concluded his junior year last season by ending with the sixth-most yards in the FCS with 1,072 yards receiving. It was one of three categories in which Butler ranked in the top 20 in the nation. Butler also finished the year 10th in the country in receiving yards per game at an average of 97.45 per outing, while he was 20th in the nation in receptions per game with an average of 5.91 caught per PC contest. Butler's exploits on the gridiron earned him 2007 Sports Network Honorable Mention All-America accolades. His honor marked the first All-America honor for the Blue Hose at the FCS level. McKinney (Augusta, Ga.) returns for his senior season coming off a 2007 season in which he recorded 41 total tackles, which included four sacks. The slated starter at right defensive end for the Blue Hose in 2008, McKinney also had 7.0 tackles-for-loss last season. McKinney was named to the preseason FCS All-Independent by Phil Steele's preview magazine prior to the start of the 2007 season. Summers (West Columbia, S.C.) finished second in the Big South Conference in punting last year with an average of 38.6 yards per punt. Summers booted a 51 yard punt in the Western Carolina contest for his longest punt of the 2007 season. Summers was also named to the preseason FCS All-Independent team in 2007 by Phil Steele's preview magazine.

BREAKING OWN MARKS (9/27): Tim Webb passed the football 57 times in the Appalachian State contest, completing 35 of his passes. The 57 pass attempts by Webb in the game bested his own Big South record of 56 set in the Wofford game earlier this season. Webb was two off of his Big South completions record of 37 set in the same Wofford game.

WEBB CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS (8/30): Tim Webb set two new Big South single-game records in PC's season opener against 13th-ranked Wofford. Webb was 37-for-56 passing against the Terriers, breaking the Big South record for completions and attempts in a game. The Lugoff, S.C. native and Lugoff-Elgin High School product negated the previous high of 34 pass completions set by Charleston Southern's Eli Byrd in 2007 against North Greenville. Webb's 56 attempts surpassed Byrd's previous record of 54 set in the same CSU game against the Crusaders. PC's single game-high for most pass attempts in a game is 70, set by former Blue Hose standout quarterback Todd Cunningham, who attempted 70 passes in PC's 48-41 win over former South Atlantic Conference rival Tusculum in the 2001 season.

SUMMERS' DAY (8/30): Bryson Summers has the top punting day by average in the Big South in 2008. Summers' 47.3 yard per punt average against Wofford is the best in the league so far.

COOL FOR SUMMERS (8/30): Summers's 56-yard punt against Wofford is the second-longest in the Big South so far in 2008.

PC'S GARNET WAY (9/20): The Blue Hose donned garnet jersey's for the first time at New Bailey Memorial Stadium in their game against Western Carolina. The Blue Hose came out to warm up in their normal Blue home uniforms, but when they returned for their introduction they surprised those in attendance with the Nike garnet jerseys.

IT'S ALL ACADEMIC (Preseason): The 2007 Presbyterian College football team had a league-high 38 student-athletes chosen to the 2007-08 Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll. To be named to the Presidential Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or better for the recently-completed academic year.

PRESEASON ALL-STATE: Gridcoach Sports South Carolina Preseason Collegiate Football Annual recently released its 2008 preseason All-State team and PC had six student-athletes named to either the first or second team. Terrance Butler (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Tim Webb (Lugoff, S.C.) were both named to the first team offense, while Antwan Thomas (Hawkinsville, Ga.) was chosen to the first team defense. Jesse Painter (Watkinsville, Ga.) was named to the second team offense and Adam McKinney (Augusta, Ga.) was selected to the second team defense. Sophomore Cam Miller (Lyman, S.C.) was named to the second team as a placekicker.
