Addison Releases Women?s Golf Schedule

CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College head golf coach Thomas Addison announced the women's golf schedule for the 2008-09 year on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The Blue Hose gear up for their second season at the NCAA Division I level in 2008-09. They will play in two tournaments hosted by conference rivals and at the Big South Conference championship in the spring.

“We really made some strides last year and I think that we are going to continue to get better over the course of this year,” said Addison. “I think we are really going to be competitive this year.”

PC opens its season at the Draper Valley Women's Intercollegiate tournament, hosted by Appalachian State on Sept. 7-9. Last year the Blue Hose went up against five other Big South teams at the tournament and finished ahead of SoCon foe The Citadel.

The team makes its second stop of the fall season in New London, N.C. where Pfeiffer will host the 6th Annual Lady Falcon Invitational on Sept. 14-16. PC follows up that performance two weeks later with a trip to Charleston Southern to compete in the CSU Women's Fall Invitational with other league rivals.

The Blue Hose complete its fall season at the Lady Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina on Oct. 18-21. Having participated in four tournaments in the fall of 2007, PC doubled the length of its fall season from a year ago.

“This year we have twice as many fall tournaments that we did last year,” noted Addison. “That is going to give us more of a chance to be competitive throughout the year.”

After a break for winter, the Blue Hose open their spring season at the Ann Rhoads Southern Shootout on Feb. 21-23 hosted by former Big South member Birmingham Southern. Last year junior Kristen Cometto (Lexington, S.C./Lexington) led PC with a 26th-place finish at the tournament and the Blue Hose will rely on her this year as well.

PC will travel to conference rival Winthrop on Mar. 19-22 for the Shamrock Women's Intercollegiate tournament. The Blue Hose will wrap up the outdoor season by competing in two tournaments they haven't competed in previously.

PC visits Longwood for the Tina Barnett Longwood University Invitational on Mar. 29-31 before traveling to Greenville, Tenn. the next week to compete in Tusculum's Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Invitational.

For a second consecutive year, the Blue Hose are eligible to compete in the Big South Championships but are not able to win the tournament as part of PC's transition into the Big South conference.
