CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College finished the first of its two-a-day practice schedule with the first of three preseason scrimmages on Saturday. The Blue Hose ran approximately 125 plays on a hot, windless afternoon at Bailey Memorial Stadium.
Junior quarterback Tim Webb (Lugoff, S.C.) led the Blue Hose offensive attack in the scrimmage, throwing for three touchdowns.
Webb opened the scrimmage by hitting senior wide receiver Chetyuane Reeder (Clinton, S.C.) on a swing pass for a 64-yard touchdown on the third play of the first series.
In the very next series, Webb again threw for a touchdown, hitting sophomore wide receiver Jeremy Cole (Columbia, S.C.) for a nine-yard touchdown in the left corner of the end zone on an out pattern.
Webb found senior wide receiver Brandon Clark (Duluth, Ga.) for his final touchdown of the first scrimmage.
Redshirt-freshman quarterback Brandon Miley (Wilmington, N.C.) found freshman wide receiver Sean Adegbola (Loganville, Ga.) for a 20-yard touchdown.
Junior running back S.J. Worrell (Madison, Ga.) scored the only rushing touchdown on the day when he rumbled in from 10 yards out.
On the opposite side of the ball, sophomore defensive end Daniel Diamond (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) had two sacks on Saturday. He was one of three Blue Hose who had a sack, along with defensive lineman Darnell Epps (Sumter, S.C.) and linebacker Josh Tavernier (Anderson, S.C.).
Freshman cornerback Justin Bethel (Columbia, S.C.) led the Blue Hose in the secondary with two pass breakups.
PC opened Saturday by working on special teams mainly during its first practice of the day in the morning.
The Blue Hose return to their four practice fields at 5:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Hose will hold their second scrimmage at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 and their third at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. The third and final scrimmage of preseason practice for PC will serve as Fan Day for the Blue Hose.
Beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, Coach Bentley and the rest of the Blue Hose will join all in attendance in their efforts to “Paint It Blue” in 2008. The Blue Hose players and coaching staff will be available to sign the 2008 Blue Hose football schedule poster and to discuss the 2008 Blue Hose football season.
Gates open at 12 p.m. for “Paint It Blue” day. There will be special giveaways during the afternoon along with attractions for the children in attendance.
After the 2008 Blue Hose introduce themselves to everyone in attendance, PC will take to the gridiron at approximately 2:30 p.m.
All PC scrimmages are open to the public. They are also subject to change due to weather and other factors. Please check PC's official athletic website at www.GoBlueHose.com for updates.
The Blue Hose open their 2008 season with a game against 2007 SoCon regular season champion and FCS playoff participant Wofford at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
PC's game with Wofford renews an old rivalry. The Blue Hose and Terriers have played 80 times in their history, but not since the 1996 season. PC holds a slight 40-37-3 all-time series advantage over the SoCon school.
