Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s soccer team gets their 2017 season started this weekend as they open up with an exhibition match at Georgia Southern.

The men are coming off a 7-10-3 campaign in 2016 under first year coach Jonathan Potter. The seven wins is the most for the men’s soccer program since moving to Division I in 2007, the previous high had been four wins in 2007 and 2012.

Sophomore forward Sergio Pinto is the leading returning scorer from the 2016 season when he scored four goals and tallied three assists as a freshman. The Blue Hose will also look to senior goal keeper Connor Behrend to help lead the charge. In 2016, he posted a record in goal of 7-8-3 and recorded 88 saves while only allowing 21 goals.

“We have been hard at work this pre-season beginning August 9th,” said coach Potter. “We are eager to learn more about our 2017 team with our first pre-season game against a well-coached and talented Georgia Southern team. We look forward to taking concepts from training and applying them in our first opportunity to compete this fall.”

The Blue Hose travel to face the Georgia Southern Eagles in their first of three exhibition matches this season on Friday. The match is set for a 7:00 pm first kick at Eagle Field at Erk Russell Athletic Park in Statesville, Ga.
