Three Blue Hose posted double-digit kills to lead the Presbyterian College volleyball team to the 3-1 win over North Carolina A&T in its final match of the Spartan-Aggie Invitational held Sept. 1-2, in Greensboro, N.C. The Blue Hose won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-23, before dropping set three, 26-24. PC rebounded in a 25-17 fourth set win.
Scoring the Match
Tied 3-3 early in the first set PC used an 11-4 run to open up a 14-7 lead, before North Carolina A&T rallied to within four at 19-15. Back to back kills by Ashton Stewart put the Blue Hose back up by six, 21-15. That would be as close as NCAT would get as PC took the first set, 25-20.
PC stormed out ahead 13-4 in the second set, but the Aggies chipped away at the lead, cutting it to four, 20-16. PC kept NCAT at bay, advancing to set point at 24-17 off back to back kills from Allie Wright and Caroline Henderson. The Aggies responded with six straight to cut it to one, 24-23. Sydney De Jong ended the rally with a kill to give PC the 25-23 win.
A close third set, each team battled back and forth with the second half of the set seeing nine ties. PC earned set point off a NCAT attack error, but had back to back attack errors to give the Aggies the come from behind third set, 26-24, win.
PC led by as much as seven midway through the fourth set, including 17-10 off a Stewart kill. NCAT rallied with an 8-1 run to cut it to three, 18-15. Leading 19-16, PC went on a 6-1 run, taking the final four points to win the set and match, 25-17.
Player of the Match
Three Blue Hose recorded double-digit kills with Wright leading the way with 14. Stewart and De Jong each posted 11 each. Jaclyn Brewington led in assists with 23, with Daley Gosnell coming away with 27. Alyssa Pitt and Edie Brewer led the Aggies with nine kills apiece.
Stat of the Match
PC led the kills advantage over NCAT 54-39, and had 15 more digs, 59-44. The Blue Hose posted four team blocks, with the Aggies finishing with nine. PC held the 10-6 edge in service aces and had a .194 attack percentage, compared to .100 for NCAT.

The Blue Hose take part in the Charm City Challenge Sept. 8-9, in Balitmore, Md. PC faces Loyola and UMBC on Friday at 10:30 a.m., and 5 p.m., before taking on Morgan State Saturday at 12 p.m.
