Ellie Stader scored three goals, while Lauren Schaaf and Alexandra Cole added two, to lead the Presbyterian College lacrosse team to the 12-5 win over Butler in action Friday afternoon at Old Bailey Stadium in Clinton, S.C. The five goals was the fewest allowed by the Blue Hose in their Division I history.

PC clicked on offense, out shooting Butler 34-21, with the 26-15 advantage on goal. The Blue Hose went 24-of-27 in clears, with Butler getting 16-of-23. PC caused 12 turnovers, to Butler’s seven.

Ellie Stader collected three goals off eight shots, all coming in the first half as PC took control early. It marked the second straight game she has scored at least three goals, as she moved to third on the team in scoring. Alexandra Cole and Lauren Schaaf also posted two goals, with Cady Roberts adding two assists
How It Happened
Goals by Ellie Stader, Cassie Watters, and Cady Roberts gave PC the early 3-0 lead with just under 20 minutes to go in the first half. Butler responded with a goal from Madison Christian at 17:07 to make it 3-1.
Butler collected goals from Madison Christian (17:07) and Journey Fischbeck (15:30), but it was PC with four more, including three in a row, to make it 7-2. Goals from PC during the stretch came from Lauren Schaaf (16:48), Natalie Barnett (10:09), Stader (9:18), and Kathleen Gerrits (7:37). With her goal at the 30 second mark, Stader gave PC the 8-2 lead at the break.
Alexandra Cole opened the scoring for PC in the second with a goal at the 27:42 mark. Christian scored for the second time, (18:58) to give Butler its third goal of the game and make it 9-3. Schaaf responded with her second goal of the game with a notch at 16:23 while Cole came back with another to extend the lead to 11-3. Kelty Fletcher gave PC a 12-3 lead about a minute later with her second goal of the season, with Fischbeck’s second goal of the game cutting the margin to 12-4, 2:32 to go. A late push by Butler with Taylor Kinn cutting the margin to seven, 12-5, at 1:52, with the final goal of the game.
