The Presbyterian College men’s basketball team used a 14-1 run, which included three three-pointers from Darius Moore, to erase a 27-point GWU lead and make it just 12, but Gardner-Webb used clutch defense and free throws to hang on and take the 78-61 win Saturday afternoon in Big South action in Boiling Springs, N.C. Reggie Dillard led the team with 18 points, but Moore finished with 13, just three shy of his career-best.

Stat of the Game
Gardner-Webb collected a season-high 19 steals, and forced 22 PC turnovers, resulting in a 24-8 advantage in points off turnovers. GWU also hit 10 three-pointers, with the Blue Hose totaling just four, all in the second half, on the afternoon. Both teams shot in the 40s, with GWU hitting 25-of-56 and PC 21-of-49.

Darius Moore jumped start the late PC rally, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the second half, which included three three-pointers during a 14-1 run to put PC back in the contest. Reggie Dillard scored a season-high 18 points, the most since he posted 17 against The Citadel earlier this season. Jo'Vontae Millner and Ed Drew were strong for PC on the boards with eight and nine rebounds, respectively, as well.

How It Happened
Gardner-Webb came out hot in the first half, opening a 13-2 lead in the first six minutes. PC cut the lead to nine off a Darius Moore basket at 13:27, but the Runnin’ Bulldogs outscored the Blue Hose 15-7 to make it a 17-point game, 28-11, 8:25 left before intermission. PC cut it to 12 with just over five to go before four straight from GWU gave the home team a 38-21 lead, 2:28 left. A Reggie Dillard free throw and an Ed Drew lay-up made it a 14-point game at the break, 34-28.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs started the second half with 10 straight, capped by back to back three-pointers, to take a 48-24 lead, 17:54 on the clock. Trailing by as much as 27, PC cut it to 14 off a 14-1 run, highlighted by three three-pointers from Darius Moore, to cut the margin to 12, 51-63, 6:28 left. GWU responded with a three from Tyrell Nelson and basket from Jamaal Robateau to take it back up to 17, five and a half remaining. A 13-point game late, Gardner-Webb used clutch free throws down the stretch to quell the rally and take the eventual 17-point, 78-61 win.
