Baseball Hits the Road to Face Longwood This Weekend

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College baseball team resumes Big South Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Longwood that begins on Friday at 6 p.m.

The two teams meet on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Free live video will be available for Saturday and Sunday on the Big South Network presented by State Farm.

PC will likely start Beau Dees (4-3, 3.78 ERA) to pitch on Friday, Chandler Knox (5-5, 3.34 ERA) on Saturday and Aaron Lesiak (1-4, 4.06 ERA) on Sunday. Longwood will counter with Aaron Myers (5-3, 1.89 ERA), Brandon Vick (4-4, 3.18 ERA) and a pitcher to be determined. Knox will look for his team-leading sixth win and aim to improve on a staff-best 3.31 ERA while Dees leads the team with 42 strikeouts.

The Blue Hose (13-26-1, 5-13 Big South) enter the weekend coming off of a thrilling 5-4 win over Wofford in 10 innings on Wednesday afternoon, the team's first this season when trailing after eight innings. PC scored three runs in the ninth inning to force extras, where Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.) delivered a walkoff single to in the 10th to propel the home side over Wofford, 5-4.

Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) leads PC with a .321 batting average and a .408 on-base percentage. Jacob Midkiff (Rock Hill, S.C.) checks in with a .304 average while Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) paces the club wth 21 RBI and a .421 slugging percentage.

Longwood (17-24, 6-12 Big South) snapped a 10-game losing streak with a three straight wins over VMI and NC Central coming into the weekend. Liberty swept the Lancers last weekend after Longwood dropped three straight at Gardner-Weeb the weekend before. Matt Dickason leads the Lancers with a .345 batting average while Brandon Delk boasts a .314 average and 31 RBI.

Following this weekend's series, PC takes a break for exams and hosts Charleston Southern next weekend in another Big South series.
