FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped its final regular season match of 2013 on Sunday, falling at Longwood by a 6-1 result.
PC moves to 7-16 overall and 0-9 in league action while Longwood improves to 6-13 and 1-8 in Big South play. The Blue Hose will next prepare for the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., on Thursday.
Lucia Leahy (Charlotte, S.C.) picked up PC's lone singles win on the day, giving the junior her seventh win of the season. Leahy played at the fifth flight and crusied past Hannah Hill, 6-3, 6-1.
The Blue Hose also grabbed a win in doubles play as Caroline deLoach (Columbia, S.C.) and Haley Elliott (Greenville, S.C.) knocked off Hill and Nicole Parker, 8-4. The win gave the pair a 2-0 record in Big South doubles action this season.
PC delivered several close matches. deLoach nearly knocked off Allison Shulman at the third flight before falling in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Elliott also battled hard against Parker at No. 6 before coming up short, 6-4, 0-6, 10-5.
